Attorney Clayton W. Kent

Biography

Clayton Kent was born in Whittier, located in Southern California, and grew up in San Marino, a small town near Pasadena, California.  He attended California State University, Long Beach, where he received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 1982, and attended Southwestern University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1985.  He has been a member of the California Bar since 1986.

During his legal career, Mr. Kent has been an associate and partner with Crawford & Bangs, a construction litigation firm in Southern California, owned and operated his own practice in the San Diego area, and then moved to Napa in 1992, where he practiced for 17 years as a senior civil trial attorney for Brayton Purcell LLP in Marin County.  There he handled a wide array of personal injury, wrongful death, mortuary negligence, product liability, elder abuse, toxic exposure, construction litigation, sexual molestation, sexual battery, employment discrimination, age discrimination, sexual harassment, contract disputes, real estate litigation, medical malpractice, insurance bad faith, and mold litigation, among many others, for the firm throughout the State. He left the firm to become a partner in Gravet ♦ Kent, LLP for  3 years before his partner decided to wind down his practice.  Mr. Kent now owns and operates KENT LAW, and continues to live with his wife and daughter in Napa. He has taken numerous cases through trial and verdict, and has received many multi-million dollar judgments for his clients.

In addition to his ongoing practice, Mr. Kent currently acts as a private mediator, and volunteers his time as a Marin County Superior Court Settlement Panelist.  For ten years, he served on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid of the North Bay and served as Chairman of the Board for the initial revitalization of Napa Legal Aid.  For ten years he received the Wiley Manuel Award for Pro Bono Service for his pro bono legal work in Marin and Napa Counties.  Mr. Kent was also recognized by State Assemblyman Joe Nation as an Outstanding Board Member for Legal Aid of Marin.

A speaker before various legal and private associations, Mr. Kent is a two-time Past President of the Marin Trial Lawyers Association, and is a member of the Napa County Bar Association.
